Synopsis

War veteran Sasha, 40, tries to cope with the changing political situation and the economic hardships of postwar Bosnia, while his father Muhamed, 63, cannot give up his allegiance to an increasingly corrupt society. Sasha’s mother Marija, 62, a retired teacher, longs for her daughter Senada, 35, who fled war-torn Sarajevo as a young girl. Muhamed is not happy with the life choices that Senada and Sasha have made but Marija takes her children’s side of things. Caught in the neverending crossfire between Sasha and Muhamed, Maria falls ill and the family’s problems mount. It takes Marija’s illness to bring the two men to their senses and realize that the family is their last oasis. But has this realization come in time?

"...a compelling, character-driven drama..."

Alissa Simon - Variety

Our Everyday Life is a subtly compelling portrait of a family—and a nation—in repair.

Cinemablographer

This is truly a story of everyday life, without any hugely dramatic tragedies or hysterically uplifting moods. It is a realistic film that lovingly depicts a part of Bosnian society that is not so often presented on the big screen, as opposed to films dealing with poverty and tragedy.
